End of KS1 Assessment Arrangements
As you may be aware, year 2 is an important year for the children. At the end of the year, they will undertake a number of tests which will form the basis of their end of year assessment. These test are not the only way that an assessment judgement is made. The children's class work throughout the year will also form part of the evidence base from which an assessment can be made.
I don't tell the children about the tests until the day that they take them so they do not become worried about them and therefore will not be able to be specific about the day that your child takes any tests.
They will take two reading papers and two maths papers. Writing will be assessed using their independent writing from throughout the year.
There are many ways in which you can help your child to work towards their end of year targets. Please help your child by practising their spellings daily. You can practise the number bonds to 10 and 20 with the children as well as their 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Daily reading will also frm part of their weekly homework. Please read with your child as often as possible and ask them questions about the story or information that they have read. There are a number of websites (see links) which can also help your child to practise the skills that they have been learning in class.
Find below the criteria with which your child will be assessed at the end of year 2. They need to meet all of the criteria in a particular assessment band to gain it. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Mrs Searle.
