St. Matthew's Commemorates Holocaust Memorial Day

We had a special worship where we imagined what it would be like if everyone wearing blue were Mrs PH’s favourites and everyone else was treated really badly. We listened to some people’s stories of what it was like to live through a situation like this when Jews were persecuted and killed just because of who they were. We then spent some time reflecting and thinking about how we can treat everyone with respect so that something like this never happens again.

In the afternoon, some of our Year 6 children went to a special course where they thought more about this issue. They are planning to do their own worship for the rest of the school to help us understand more.

Later on in the year the Year 6 children will be creating a peace pole and they will be using all of this thinking to help them.
