Get fit in St. Matthew's garden!
On Sunday a plucky group of parents, children, staff and governors gathered in front of the school to begin the transformation from messy flowerbed to elegant walkway and prayer garden.
May we offer a HUGE 'Thank you!' to the families who gave up their Sunday morning to come down to school and work so hard digging, pruning and raking. Under the watchful and knowledgeable eye of Mrs Hurst, gardener extraodinaire, the team have cleared the front of the school almost completely. There was a huge amount of team work, fun and even the youngest members of our school community got involved.
At the moment it is looking quite bleak, but never fear, Mrs Hurst has a plan to plant bushes and seasonal flowers. The new plants will hopefully attract butterflies and other insects as well as us.
We are planning to put in a child friendly water feature and some benches so anyone who is in need of pausing their busy lives for a moment can be welcomed into our garden to reflect and relax.
There were also some busy people working in the playground to tidy up some of the flowerbeds.
There is always more to be done so we hope to plan another opportunity to come and get fit in St. Matthew's garden. So if you missed out last time, watch out for information about the next session!
