  • Boys Football @ Oakmoor 10/7/25

    Yesterday afternoon, St. Matthew’s proudly took part in a boys’ football tournament, entering three teams: Purple, Green, and Yellow. Despite the hot and challenging conditions, all three teams showed great determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the event.

    The Purple team finished in 10th place, the Yellow team came 9th, and the Green team achieved an impressive 4th place finish. Each team played with heart and represented the school with pride, supporting one another and showing excellent spirit on and off the pitch.

  • Hampshire School Games 2025

    Ten enthusiastic children from our school had the fantastic opportunity to attend the Hampshire School Games—a celebration of activity, inclusivity, and learning. The event was a vibrant showcase of alternative physical activities designed to engage and inspire.

    Throughout the day, our pupils threw themselves into five exciting challenges: circus skills, slack-lining, mental health games, boccia, and curling. Each activity not only sparked joy but also fostered teamwork, resilience, and new skills that extended far beyond the field of play.

    Whether balancing on a slackline or diving into mindful tasks, the children gave it their all and represented our school with pride and positivity. Their enthusiasm was infectious, their sportsmanship commendable, and their sense of fun—absolutely unbeatable.

  • St Matthew’s Celebrates School Games Mark Gold – Three Years Running!

    We are thrilled to announce that St Matthew’s has once again been awarded the School Games Mark Gold—for the third consecutive year! This prestigious recognition celebrates our commitment to providing high-quality physical education and sporting opportunities for all our pupils.

    This achievement is a testament to the incredible teamwork and dedication shown by our entire school community. A huge “Thank You” goes out to our wonderful children, whose enthusiasm and effort in every sporting activity makes our school shine. We also extend heartfelt thanks to our parents and carers, whose ongoing support and encouragement help make these opportunities possible. And of course, a massive thank you to our staff, who work tirelessly to create an active, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all.

    St Matthew’s continues to be a place where sport and physical activity are celebrated, enjoyed, and embedded in everyday school life. Here’s to keeping active and aiming even higher next year!

  • KS1 Multiskills @ Perins 20/6/25

    Children from Year R, Year 1, and Year 2 had an exciting and energetic afternoon as they took part in a fantastic multiskills event filled with fun and friendly competition. The event featured a variety of challenges designed to test and develop their throwing, catching, running, and jumping skills.

    From the moment they arrived, the children showed incredible enthusiasm and determination. They tackled each activity with big smiles and boundless energy, eager to give their best. Whether it was sprinting across the track, leaping into the air, or aiming for the target, every child gave it their all.

    What stood out most was their brilliant attitude. They listened carefully to instructions, supported one another, and represented the school with pride and excellent behaviour. In fact, they were having so much fun, many didn’t want the event to end!

  • Lacrosse @ St Matthews 17/6/25

    Fifteen enthusiastic students took to the field this week for their very first lacrosse session—and what a fantastic debut it was! Despite the hot weather, the children showed incredible focus and energy as they practised key skills like passing, shooting, and match play.

    From the first whistle, their teamwork and determination were clear. The coach was especially impressed by how well the group listened and supported one another throughout the session. Whether it was a crisp pass, a powerful shot, or a clever move during match play, each child gave their best effort.

    Not only did they learn quickly, but they also represented the school with pride, showing great sportsmanship and a positive attitude.

  • Girls Football @ Oakmoor 12/6/25

    The girls of St. Matthew’s made their school proud at this week’s inter-school football tournament, showing not only skill on the pitch but also leadership and teamwork off it. Two teams represented the school—St. Matthew’s Green and St. Matthew’s Purple—and both delivered outstanding performances.

    St. Matthew’s Green fought hard throughout the tournament and secured 2nd place in the Plate Competition, demonstrating resilience and determination in every match. Meanwhile, St. Matthew’s Purple triumphed in the Cup Competition, taking home the top prize after a series of impressive wins.

    What made the day even more special was the way the girls ran their own teams. From making substitutions to managing tactics, they took full responsibility for giving everyone a chance to play and contribute. Their commitment to fairness, inclusion, and teamwork was truly inspiring.

    The tournament was a celebration of sport, friendship, and empowerment—and St. Matthew’s girls led the way with pride.

  • Quidditch @ Perins 10/6/25

    After watching the fast-paced game and cheering on their favorite teams, the children were guided through a beginner-friendly Quidditch workshop. With brooms in hand and safety gear in place, they practiced flying techniques, learned how to pass the Quaffle, and even tried their hand at dodging Bludgers—safely enchanted for training, of course.

    Throughout the session, the children demonstrated impressive teamwork and listening skills. They communicated clearly, supported one another, and quickly grasped the importance of cooperation on the field. Coaches and volunteers praised their enthusiasm and ability to work together, noting how well they adapted to the challenges of the game.

    By the end of the session, the young participants had not only learned the fundamentals of Quidditch but also built confidence and camaraderie. It was a magical experience that brought the spirit of the wizarding world to life through play, learning, and shared adventure.

  • 🌟 Year 5 Girls Charity Run: Raising Funds for Cancer Research UK 🌟

    We are incredibly proud to share the inspiring efforts of five of our Year 5 girls—Emmy, Grace, Jasmine, Amelia, and Lidia—who have taken on a remarkable challenge to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

    Motivated by a Newsround report on cancer, these compassionate and determined young girls decided to take action. From 28th April to 23rd May, they committed to running laps during their playtimes and lunchtimes for 20 days—all in the name of supporting vital cancer research.

    Their dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm have been truly heartwarming, and they’ve already made a big impact within our school community. We are so proud of their initiative and the values they’ve demonstrated—living examples of our school’s ethos of Faith, Respect, Achievement, and Friendship.

    💖 Well done, girls! You are an inspiration to us all.
