Hello! Welcome to our Forest School Blog. We will be updating this page frequently so that you can see what we have been up to in the forest.
Mrs O and Mrs P - the 'Forest school Fairies' (aka The Forest School Team)
Apple Class were very creative today. We were printing using clay and natural materials, making 'stick men' and building animals home. The children all knew what they wanted to do and were working really well together.
Willow class decided to make a fire today as it was cold. They enjoyed fire lighting and building the fire out of kindling using a 'Jenga' style stacking approach. The children also used clay and built cafes and shops. At the end of the session we played a group game.
'Love is in the air...'
Sycamore and Beech class had shorter Forest School sessions today because the children were involved in making the willow dome. Both classes were given the opportunity to make bird feeders for the 'Great British Bird Watch' which Year 6 will be completing next week. Some of the children used the tools, and we played a few group games at the end of the sessions.
Rainbows enjoyed jumping in puddles today and playing games. We played a new game called 'the honey bear' and the children had to use their listening skills in order to play the game successfully. We also made animals from the Chinese New Year calender. Rainbows enjoyed the session despite the wet weather!
Willow Class enjoyed cooking marshmallows on the fire. They also used the tools to make moving stick characters and spears. The children enjoyed using the mud kitchen bits and the other Forest School equipment. At the end of the session we played a group game which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Apple class enjoyed toasting marshmallows on the fire. The children set up the fire themselves and lit it using the fire steels. Some of the children continued making 'dinosaur food', and others built a fantastic obstacle course which they were continuously improving to make it safe as well as fun.
Oak class really enjoyed making toast on the fire! They cooked the bread and then chose their own toppings! Some of the children made a fantastic den and added 'furniture' to it. The children also enjoyed using the wool and clay to make different things that they could use in the den.
Sycamore enjoyed toasting marshmallows on the fire today. With a little perseverance they were able to get the fire started. Some of the children built dens using their own equipment from home, and others were whittling. We also played some group games and used the 'slack line' and 'scramble' net.
Beech class had a very busy Forest School session today. Some of the boys were using the tools to make lots of different things out of wood. The tarps were used to make dens, and some of the children built a fire so we could toast marshmallows. There was lots of good team work going on, the children helped one another, and they used the tools safely and independently.
