Mrs O and Mrs P - the 'Forest school Fairies' (aka The Forest School Team)
Toast, knots and obstacle courses!
Today Oak Class had an exciting Forest School session. They enjoyed using the 'Scramble net' and rope swing. Some children whittled green wood and bashed the end with a log to make a paintbrush, and then they made natural paint out of charcoal that they found. Others enjoyed tree climbing and building bug dens.Have a look at the pictures in the gallery to see what they got up to.
Rainbows had an exciting morning today. They received a letter from the 'Fairy Godmother' who needed help. Her house had been destroyed, and she needed Rainbows to build her a new home with some new furniture. The children enjoyed collecting different natural materials, and they used these to make different parts for the house. I saw some lovely team work and co-operation. Some of the children explored the rope swing after, whilst others went on a bug hunt.
Willow Class had a lovely time outside today. They enjoyed cooking marshmallows on the fire. Some of the children did a great job of setting up the main campfire and lighting it. Other children enjoyed using the 'scramble net' and rope swing. Another activity that the children chose was to build settlements as part of the geography topic they will be covering in class. One child made a start on building a clay hamlet for bugs.
Popcorn!
Apple Class had a great session today. The weather was sunny and they enjoyed completing a range of activities. Some of the children made musical instruments/bands and were thinking about 'timbre' and 'texture'. Others enjoyed climbing on the 'scramble net' and swinging on the rope swing. All of the children were getting on independently and needed little help from the adults. It was lovely to see the children working co-operatively with their peers and choosing to work with different friends from their class.
Oak Class enjoyed a lovely, sunny session in Forest School today. The children completed a range of activities including; tree climbing, making musical instruments and knot tying. The children enjoyed using beaters to drum logs and scrape trees to make different sounds. We also talked about the terms 'timbre' and 'texture'. I was really impressed with the knot tying, some of children practised tying 'timber hitch' knots on the trees and they worked well with a partner to do this.
