St Matthew's CE Primary School

Faith • Respect • Achievement • Friendship

Sycamore 9th December 2020

Lots of activities in the woods today! We had some children whittling sticks to turn into their own Christmas decorations and some children attempted to create their own large Christmas tree using wool and sticks.

We used our identification resources and the Seek app to identify some fungi we found in the forest school area. This one was really jelly like! it is called 'leafy brain'

We lit some 5 minute fires and used some of these to light our main fire pit where we toasted marshmallows as a snack. Yum!

Some of the boys decided to use a tarp to make a low scramble net and learned how to tie a larks foot knot and a timber hitch knot to keep the scramble net in place.

Its certainly getting a little chilly at them moment so don't forget your warm clothes for forest school!
