Apple Class enjoyed putting up the tarps today and using them as dens. We also put the hammock up so that it could dry in the sun, and the children loved lying in it! Some of the children made bird breeders whilst others were playing with the soft toys and hiding them.

It was a lovely sunny morning and all of the children were content playing their own games!

Ash class loved playing in the rain yesterday! Most of the class were working together to build/sculpt their own river Nile and ancient Egypt. It was lovely seeing everyone work together and use their imaginations.

Some of the children enjoyed building dens to shelter from the wet weather, and others were making bird feeders. There were no complaints about the rain, I was really impressed with the children's resilience and determination.

The children also tried fire lighting and some of them managed to light the cotton wool independently. Lots of the children were building dens and trying to camouflage.

Beech enjoyed lighting all of the fires today. We had the main camp fire going and all of the 'Kelly' kettles. Instead of boiling water with the 'Kelly' kettles, they cooked marshmallows over the bases. As well as fire lighting the children enjoyed using the 'scramble' net and playing a group game.

Another group made a bug house, and some of the girls made homes for fairies. Lots of the children were using the new bug pots and tweezers to collect insects. It was a lovely session and all of the children were busy and engaged.

Sycamore enjoyed warming up pitta breads on the fire and trying some Greek dips (linked to their Greek topic). Most of the children tried the dips despite some hesitance. The children worked together to build the fire, cook and set up the plate and dip station.

A group of boys used the tools to make a tripod, and the rest of the children were enjoying the sunny weather in the 'scramble' net.

Beech class worked up an appetite today by moving logs from the 'bank' into the willow dome. The children then set up the fire and warmed up pitta breads on it. They had the opportunity to try two Greek dips (linked to their Greek topic). Tzatziki appeared to be the most popular!

Some of the children tried to get the 'Kelly Kettles' lit, and another group were using the tools. It was a lovely session and the sun was shining for us!

In Forest School the children were set a challenge to build houses for the 'Three Little Pigs'. They had to choose materials that represented 'straw, bricks and sticks'. The children explored the woods to gather their materials. Some of the children pretended that the trees were the chimneys of their houses. Once they made the houses, the children made the pigs and the wolf and acted out the story.

Willow Class enjoyed making 'reading dens' in Forest School for 'World Book Day'. They sat in their dens and read their books. I saw some great team work when the children were building their dens, and they were very creative with the limited resources we had outside.
