How can I help my child practise their spellings?

During Year R and Year 1, the children are taught how to spell words using the 'Little Wandle Letters and Sounds'. If your child is in Year R and Year 1 use the link 'How can I help my child develop their understanding of phonics?' to find support.

From Year 2 through to Year 6, your child is taught spellings through the scheme of 'Spelling Shed'. This is an online and interactive programme. Your child's teacher will set your child a set of spellings each week which they have been learning in class. The best way you can help your child with their spellings is to encourage them to practise their spellings that they have been set daily. You can also access the common exception words for your child's year group using this website. It can be accessed through most mobile phones, tablets and laptops. Please find below, a link to thin Spelling Shed website. Your child should have been given their username and password by their class teacher. If you do not have it, please ask your child's class teacher.
